You run through the forest with Mimi on your back.
Soon you notice the forest thinning out and the ground becomes hard and
cold. Finally you approach the forbidden cliffs. Mist drifts
in and out the caves and the whole place has a cold, eerie feel about it.
Mimi whimpers on your back as you look up at the thousands
of caves dotting the side of cliff. You go into one of the caves at
the foot of the cliff, build a small fire, and look around.
Like I said before, mist covers everything giving the
rocks a clammy feel. Your fire probably wouldn’t have started at all
if it weren’t for the extremely dry, dead wood you found that caught fire
easily. You knew that dead wood that was still on trees worked best
and dead trees littered the foot of the cliff so that it looked like a barren
wasteland. The mist filtered out all sound from the forest, so it
was deadly quiet. The sun dipped slowly out of the sky and all became
dark and quiet around you. You and Mimi huddle around the fire to
keep warm, and eat some of the food you brought with you. Eventually
you fall asleep.
When you wake up the next morning you see that all that’s
left of your fire is cold ashes. Mimi is still asleep so you get more
wood and cook breakfast. Dark clouds fill the sky and you can hear
thunder in the distance. You want to go back to your village but think
that it might be safer to stay in the cave and wait the storm out.
Do you risk the chance of getting caught in the storm
and go back to the village? -36-
Or do you wait in the caves? -37-
